Calixte Renaud Toronto Trauma Queer Therapist

Hi! I’m glad you are here.

I know what it’s like to be deep in a well, and the challenge of climbing out. I also know moving toward healing is possible.

I’m Calixte Renaud, a relational psychotherapist with a commitment and passion for thinking about how we can move toward radical acceptance, gentle curiosity, and brazen hope.

Relational Therapy starts with an understanding that we all have an innate yearning towards connection, but that wounds can lead us to disconnect. I work with individuals from a trauma-informed, feminist relational, and anti-oppressive lens to help cultivate curiosity, self-compassion, and enlivened interest in how we came to be where we are.

I strive to co-create a non-judgemental space where we can explore all parts of your story, look at the stuck and hard places, and expand your capacity to process pain. I start with a firm belief that we are the experts of our own bodies, needs, and lives. Our work is collaborative, and so together we will come to identify your patterns and survival strategies, work towards cultivating acceptance and make mindful pauses so we can make intentional choices in how we connect.

I know that your life has many chapters, and what you bring, big and small, is just a drop of water in the ocean.

Those drops do not define you.

“There is some strange intimacy between grief and aliveness, some sacred exchange between what seems unbearable and what is most equisitely alive.”

— Frances Weller

For those of us from non-monogamy/polyamory, kink/BDSM, sex work, + queer identities, trusting that our experiences won’t be pathologized, dismissed, or dissected for clues to undermine our decisions is vital.
I take the honour of hearing your stories seriously and understand the importance of being able to bring in all parts of yourself without fearing those parts will be used to confine you. Let’s celebrate all parts together.
